Logic Pro X On a PC (Method 1)
HERE'S HOW!!
Here's How!!
Why Would You Want To Do This?

Logic Pro X is the most advanced audio program out of all the Logic Versions. Hence why you would want to use it. The software manufacturer of Logic Pro x on the other hand is Apple, and they only allow their software to be proprietary to Apple's OS [Mac OS X]. This raises an issue with all PC users alike. So you may ask, "how to install logic pro x on a pc?" And this guide is just the guide for you if you asked that question.

So a virtual machine seems like the first viable option. Although there are some other vm hosting softwares' and a hackintosh method which we'll cover in a later tutorial. So there lies the question, "why would you want to do this". The question is answered by a statement which follows: you would want to do this to run Logic Pro X in windows with a virtual environment guesting Mac OS X.

Can you use Logic Pro X To The Full Extent?
In this section we'll talk about Logic Pro X's features & performance inside of a virtual machine.
Audio
So you may be asking the following questions: Can I record audio in Logic Pro X? Can I record with my microphone? is there any latency in the recording? Will my audio recording sound good?

And here I have the answer to ALL those questions.

Q1: Can I record audio in Logic Pro X
A1: Yes you can. there are a few steps to configure your audio device and get your sound working correctly which we cover in a video below.

Q2: Can I record with my microphone?
A2: Yes, but it depends on your hardware configuration. First things first, if you have a desktop, make sure your audio device is plugged in to the back of your PC. This uses the ports directly from the motherboard. If you have a laptop, any usb port or mic jack port would work, considering you have your drivers installed correctly. try unplugging and plugging back in if the vm doesn't pick it up. Also, it depends on your microphone configuration. A condenser mic that needs an audio interface to get power most likely will not work. However, a mic that uses a simple USB cable to work, should work with Logic Pro X. Same with a mic that plugs into the 1/8th mic jack on your motherboard.

Q3: is there any latency in the recording?
A3: short answer is yes, but there is a way to optimize your recordings for this. For example, following the video above you remove as much latency as possible. Secondly, don't listen to your voice with your headphones while you record, the latency will mess up your work/voice flow. Thirdly, once you have the settings correct, go ahead and record [again without the headphones] and then in play-back, sync the new recording up with your instrumental.

Q4: Will my audio recording sound good?
A4: Yes, but it'll take some work to get everything to function properly as explained in the previous 3 questions.

MIDI
So you may have the following questions: Can I record MIDI in the virtual machine? Can I use a MIDI controller? Is there latency while using MIDI in the virtual machine?

Well, here are those answers you have been looking for.

Q1: Can I record MIDI in the virtual machine?
A1: Yes, you can definitely record MIDI within the virtual machine. Although the settings need to be configured correctly in order for MIDI to be functioning to the point of recording and quantizing.

Q2: Can I use a MIDI controller? NOTE:
A2: Yes, but the functionality of the midi controller isn't going to be just like you have it plugged into an actual Apple Mac. In fact in most cases you'll need to do a few walk around's and mess with the settings to be able to record and quantize as wanted.

Q3: Is there latency while using MIDI in the virtual machine?
A3: At first, yes, but when you tool around with the settings as shown in the video above, you'll be able to at least record and quantize with very little to no latency.

Plugins
Some of you may be wondering the following questions: Can I use plugins from my host computer in Logic Pro X? How do you install plugins in Logic Pro X on the VM? Can I use the Stock Plugins built into logic pro X?

I do in fact have the answer to these.

Q1: Can I use plugins from my host computer in Logic Pro X?
A1: The answer is a no. Due to the Mac OS X Install being on non-Apple hardware, some Apple software won't work correctly. This includes Logic Pro X. When you try to use a Plug-in you cannot edit the plugin. Meaning you can't use something like NetVST to use you're host's VST Plugins.

Q2: How do you install plugins in Logic Pro X on the VM?
A2: You can download the Logic Pro X (Apple Mac OS X) Version of the VST inside the virtual machine with safari and apply them to Logic Pro X. Although you can select the Plug-in, you cannot edit the settings of the plug-in. This is due to the incompatible configuration of the hardware. Fortunately you can use the plug-ins if you don't need to do any configuration. Such as a software instrument plug in.

Q3: Can I use the Stock Plugins built into Logic Pro X?
A3: Yes and no. Again, you can use the plugins and change *some* of the parameters, but in the controls windows it will be blank and there's no work-around for that yet. *I'm working on finding one*

Installation Processes
Installing VMWare
In this video we'll be discussing part one of the entire process. Which is installing VMWare Workstation 15.5.1. This installation process only takes a couple minutes. There is a download link on this page to the exact version I use in this video. So without further or do, let's get started!
Obtaining a license key
Next up, in part 2 we obtain an extremely CHEAP license key for VMWare Workstation 15 Pro. This involves an eBay search and some digging to find the right seller. All in all the cheapest way to obtain a license!
Unlocking VMWare For Mac OS X
Up next in Part 3 we unlock VMWare Workstation 15 Pro to be able to install Mac OS X Catalina on top of Windows. The unlocker link is on the bottom of this page. So let's unlock VMWare so we can get rolling shall we?
After downloading the required version from the above buttons to your computer, you must first close the VM Workstation software to install and use VMware Unlocker on Windows 10. Additionally, you can check that the VM Workstation program is not running in the background on your system by using Task Manager.
After closing the program, extract the .rar file that you have downloaded to your computer and then click the Right Key/Run as Administrator option on the win-install.cmd file in the folder to start its installation on Windows 10.
win-install.cmd ⇒ Configures Workstation Settings win-uninstall.cmd ⇒ Restores / Uninstalls Workstation Settings win-update-tools.cmd ⇒ Downloads the latest macOS Guest VM Tools Copy
Immediately after running the Win-install.cmd, the CMD command prompt will open and the unlock program will be installed.
After the installation is complete, run the VMware Workstation / Player software and continue by clicking the Create a new virtual machine option to check the Mac OS X option.
When you proceed to the Select a guest OS window, you can see the “Apple Mac OS X “ option as in the image below.
NOTE 1: Don’t forget to add a minimum of 4 GB RAM and 2 processors when creating a Mac OS High Sierra / Mojave virtual machine! We also recommend that you enable the virtualization feature from virtual machine settings.
If the Unlocker Fails For Whatever Reason, Here Are Some Fixes...
If your VMWare doesn't install inside the VM- Go to the end of this page where you'll find Some Fixes
Install Mac Os X Catalina On Windows With VMWare!!
So now that we got the unlocker all set up, we can install Mac OS X Catalina on VMWare. So let's go ahead and follow the steps in this video to be able to just that!
Last But Not Least
Installing Logic Pro X On Windows!!
- All you do is just sign in to the app store
